Dr. Goldberg a Professor Emeritus in the Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMCMS). Dr. Goldberg served previously as the Chief of this Division for more than 12 years, having stepped down from this leadership position approximately 2 years ago. Dr. Goldberg has served as the Director of the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation program at the UMCMS since its inception more than 15 years ago where he teaches courses in scientific and grant writing and leads seminars in clinical and public health research. Dr. Goldberg has been actively involved in federally funded community-based surveillance projects and observational studies examining the natural history of coronary heart disease, heart failure, venous thromboembolism, and other chronic diseases and risk factors of major public health importance for more than three decades. He has published more than 500 peer reviewed scientific articles and has been supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for more than 35 years. He has served as a regular standing member on the Epidemiology and Disease Control study section at the NIH and continues to serve as an ad-hoc reviewer of grants submitted to this governmental agency. He has taught courses in epidemiology and scientific writing at the Tufts University School of Medicine for more than 25 years and he currently sits on the Editorial Board of a major American medical journal, namely the American Journal of Medicine.
