“We help researchers from all backgrounds to develop new methods and translate discoveries into practice, break down the barriers that slow the process of determining the effectiveness of those methods, and work together to bring about change that improves human health.”

Welcome to Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute!

Overview

Tufts CTSI was established in 2008 with a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). We are part of a national consortium of more than 60 leading universities and academic medical centers committed to accelerating the translational of scientific discoveries into practical applications that contribute to improved health

Now in our fourth award, we support research across all phases of translation— from bench to bedside and beyond, to real-world patient care, population health, and health policy. We do this by providing services, tools, and resources; educating and training the research workforce; promoting research best practices; facilitating collaboration across disciplines and engagement with patients and communities; and by conducting research on key translational roadblocks. To carry out our work and to maximize our impact, we leverage the strengths and commitment of a robust partnership of 39 organizations.

Vision and Mission

Our vision is to exemplify excellence in research, education, and community engagement, and overcome barriers to translation to improve the wellbeing and health of communities in our region and across the nation.

Our mission is to stimulate innovative broadly-engaged team science across the translational research spectrum to improve clinical care and health.

Aims

Harness the collective impact of Tufts CTSI to advance CTS and improve public health through responsive Hub leadership, a collaborative culture, and continuous improvement of programs and research.

Provide outstanding education, training, and mentoring, tailored to different roles and disciplines, to develop an expert CTS workforce, and share these resources nationally.

Cultivate broadly engaged team science, with active engagement of all stakeholders, to promote relevant and impactful translation for all populations to promote health.

Create the environment, resources, and services to stimulate and support the full spectrum of CTS by leveraging the expertise and assets of Tufts CTSI partners.

Foster translation by developing, demonstrating, and disseminating innovations that address significant translational roadblocks and provide generalizable translational insights and solutions.
