Teresa May, DO

Faculty Scientist
Maine Medical Center Research Institute

Dr. May completed medical school at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by residency in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship at Maine Medical Center followed by Neurocritical Care Fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian/Cornell Hospital. She now works as a pulmonary/medical/neurocritical care attending at Maine Medical Center. Her current work is meant to explore the effect of different sedation regimens on functional and cognitive outcomes during targeted temperature management in survivors of cardiac arrest and to help understand the mechanism between sedation and neurologic recovery. She will be using hierarchical modeling and mediation analysis to examine an international cardiac arrest database and data from the Maine Medical Center Neurocoginitive Outcomes Project, for which she is the director. She completed a Certificate in Clinical and Translational Science at Tufts CTSI and was awarded a KL2 career development grant to investigate variation in sedation and neuromuscular blockade practices on outcomes after cardiac arrest.
