Request for Applications: S-GATS Program Offering $25,000–$50,000 in Direct Costs

Have an idea for improving how translation happens?

The Small Grants to Advance Translational Science (S-GATS) Program is now offering $25,000–$50,000 in direct costs to support innovative studies that improve how discoveries, evidence, tools, methods, and interventions move toward broader use and benefit.

S-GATS welcomes projects across the translational spectrum that address persistent scientific or operational barriers, investigate new or insufficiently studied approaches to translation, and generate knowledge, methods, strategies, processes, frameworks, or other resources with relevance beyond a single disease, intervention, population, or setting.

Areas of interest include clinical research efficiency; data science and AI; dissemination and implementation; predictive efficacy and toxicology; therapeutic and product development; translational networks and workforce capacity; and evidence-informed decision-making.

The application process begins with a competitive Letter of Intent (LOI), due Tuesday, September 29, 2026. A consultation with the S-GATS Program team is required before LOI submission, with consultations available through Friday, September 25, 2026. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by Thursday, December 3, 2026.

An Information sessions will be held on Wednesday, September 9 at 12:00PM. To register, schedule a required consultation, or ask a question, contact sgats@tuftsmedicine.org.

Additional information, including the full Request for Applications (RFA), is available below.
