Jagnyesh Patra joined the Tufts CTSI Informatics team in August 2026 as a Software Development Analyst III, where he helps advance the clinical data infrastructure and analytical toolsets that enable investigators to access research-ready data more rapidly and efficiently. He brings seven years of experience across academic, payer, and federal healthcare environments. Most recently, at the University of Illinois Chicago’s Center for Clinical and Translational Science, he led Epic-FHIR initiatives that reduced research data access times from weeks to hours. Prior to that, at Optum/UnitedHealth Group, he contributed to the development of petabyte-scale clinical data repositories and helped implement some of the nation’s earliest ONC-certified Patient Access APIs. While supporting the CDC’s Data Standards Management and Harmonization Work Group, he advanced national health data exchange standards and trained public health scientists in their application.
Jagnyesh holds an MS in Industrial Engineering and a BE in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. He is Epic-certified in Cogito, Clarity, Caboodle, and the Clinical Data Model.
He was drawn to Tufts CTSI by the opportunity to help apply artificial intelligence to clinical research in ways that are safe, effective, and equitable. He is particularly passionate about ensuring that AI-enabled research systems incorporate human oversight, transparent data provenance, and a thoughtful understanding of whose populations and experiences are represented in the underlying data.”
