The Qualitative Research Interest Group (QRIG) is an interprofessional group united by an interest in qualitative approaches to health research. Qualitative researchers at MaineHealth Institute for Research and the Center for Health Research, Kaiser Permanente Northwest co-host the group. All are welcome.

The group meets through Microsoft Teams on the fourth Thursday of every month at 4:00PM-5:00PM EDT.

The next Qualitative Research Interest Group Meeting (Topic: Qualitative Evidence Synthesis) will take place Thursday, December 18 at 4:00PM EDT (1:00PM PST). Please join us for our final meeting of 2025!

Goals for our End-of-the-Year Meeting:

  • Attendees will have the opportunity to introduce themselves to the group.
  • We will be reviewing what we did in 2025 and reflecting on what worked or could be improved
  • We will discuss what we’d like to see in 2026 and getting volunteers to host future meetings. If you have an idea to pitch, this is your chance!
  • We will also be celebrating our Co-Chair Kristiina Hyrkäs, who has been with QRIG since it began, and who is retiring at the end of the year.

As always, feel free to forward this to anyone you know who may be interested in attending and/or joining QRIG. If you have any questions, concerns, comments, criticisms, or ideas for future meetings, please contact Michael.kohut@mainehealth.org.

Meeting topics can cover any of the following:

  • A qualitative work in progress, about which you would like feedback. This includes early brainstorming, mid-project feedback, and late-project advice on results and dissemination.
  • A journal club-style meeting where we all read a relatively short journal article in the qualitative health space and discuss it.
  • Qualitative methodologies, including for data collection, analysis, and/or synthesis.

Join the December 2025 meeting via Microsoft Teams.
