Interested in getting help with your REDCap projects? Tufts CTSI now offers free REDCap Drop-In Sessions on Tuesdays from 10:00AM-noon. Sessions are 30 minutes long and are available to all staff and faculty at Tufts CTSI partner and collaborator organizations.

Schedule a drop-in session to discuss any aspect of REDCap that requires expert advice, such as requesting a feature demonstration, making small modifications to a database, or discussing the pros and cons of different database setups. Drop-in sessions are private, so you can discuss real projects and data; they can be either one-on-one or include multiple members of your study team.

On Wednesday, September 23 at 4:30PM, join Ben Wessler, MD, MS, cardiologist and Tufts CTSI Lead Navigator, for an overview of Tufts CTSI’s services, resources, and expert consultations available to support clinical and translational research.

You’re invited to attend the Biomedical and Health Data Sciences Collaborative’s (BHDSC) September 2026 Seminar on Wednesday, September 23 at 2:00PM.

Dr. Owais Gilani will present “DSVI: A Mobility Adjusted Dynamic Social Vulnerability Index.” Dr. Gilani is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. His research focuses on methodological development in spatial and spatiotemporal statistics (e.g., air pollution modeling) with applications in environmental epidemiology.

The Qualitative Research Interest Group (QRIG) is an interprofessional group united by an interest in qualitative approaches to health research. Qualitative researchers at MaineHealth Institute for Research and the Center for Health Research, Kaiser Permanente Northwest co-host the group. All are welcome. The group meets via Microsoft Teams on the fourth Thursday of every month. Feel free to forward this to anyone you know who may be interested in attending and/or joining the QRIG.

On September 24, from 3:30PM-4:30PM (EST), Carmit McMullen, PhD, and Mike Kohut, PhD, will lead a discussion about effective presentation of qualitative research results. Qualitative researchers publishing in health-oriented journals often include participant quotes in tables, but this minimizes the impact of participants’ direct statements in telling the story of our findings.

The QRIG September meeting will showcase several articles that are models of successfully integrating participant experiences into the presentation of results in a manuscript.

The Tufts CTSI Qualitative and Mixed Methods Service supports researchers, community members, and others in using qualitative and survey methods in health-related research. We are here to help you go beyond numbers alone by integrating interviews, focus groups, observations, and surveys to generate insights that can improve health and health care.

Researchers, community members, and others affiliated with a Tufts CTSI partner organization can request support by submitting a service request.

• Initial consultations of up to 10 hours are provided at no cost.
• For more extensive consultation, we can join research teams (FTE portion).
