Laboratory

  • Core laboratory services are provided by the Clinical and Analytical Core Laboratory (CACL) at the Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging.
  • Use of Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) laboratory space on Farnsworth 6 at Tufts Medical Center (Tufts MC) is restricted to CTRC personnel and research teams conducting trials in the CTRC. This policy was implemented to ensure safety of personnel working in the CTRC laboratory and the integrity of biological samples processed and stored in the CTRC laboratory.
    • Investigators who require laboratory space, but who are not conducting trials in the CTRC may request use of laboratory space allocated to Tufts CTSI on Ziskind 7. Investigators using Tufts CTSI Ziskind 711 or 714 laboratory space have access to the following Ziskind 7 resources and facilities:
      • Refrigerated, variable speed centrifuges
      • Freezers for short-term sample storage (please clearly label all samples)
      • Walk-in cooler (room 743 located near the freight elevator) for short-term sample storage (please clearly label all samples)
      • Ice and water in room 728
      • Storage space for laboratory supplies (by request)
      • Long-term sample storage (by request)
    • Tufts CTSI is not responsible for supplying or maintaining any laboratory equipment, providing or ordering consumable laboratory supplies, coordinating use of the Ziskind 7 laboratory space for investigator teams or for any samples, laboratory supplies, equipment, or personal belongings stored in Tufts CTSI Ziskind 7 laboratory space. Tufts CTSI is also not responsible for the safety of lab users. Individual investigators are responsible for personnel training and safety of their staff. Use of a locked container for lab supplies is suggested.
    • Ziskind laboratory space will be available to investigators at the discretion of Tufts CTSI and Tufts Medical Center Research Administration. Tufts CTSI and Tufts MC Research Administration reserve the right to terminate access to Tufts CTSI laboratory space to any investigator team based on organizational and institutional needs with 60 days advanced notice.
