Tufts CTSI Pilot Studies Program Application Overview

Application Packages

There are three application packages – one for each type of pilot award.  Please be sure to download the correct package for completion.

Application Requirements

  • All investigators are required to have eRA Commons User Names.  These user names may be obtained from the investigator’s organization research administration office.  (The only exception to this policy may be when one of the investigators is from a community-based agency)
  • Margins are set at .5 inches for top, bottom, left and right.
  • Arial 11 is the required font for all entered text.
  • The Principal Investigator’s Name (one name) should be entered at the top of page one, and will subsequently appear on each page, thereafter.
  • If the proposed project requires IRB, IACUC or IBC approval, such applications must be submitted with this application for the Pilot Studies Program.  These applications should not be sent directly to each committee’s offices.
  • Facilities Available – Description of facilities is required only if the work requires the use of specialized equipment that may not be generally available.
  • Appendices – Should not be included.
  • Some pages on the application are protected to preserve formatting.  Please do not change the protection status of the form.

Submission Process

All applications and accompanying materials must be submitted as follows, by Friday, December 9, 2011 at 12:00 PM (Noon).

  1. Once completed, the application should be signed and dated on the cover page by the Principal Investigator, Division/Department Chair, and Administrator.
  2. After signatures are obtained, the application should be converted to PDF format.
  3. Go to http://www.tuftsctsi.org/Funding-Opportunities/Tufts-CTSI-Pilot-Studies-Program.aspx and choose APPLICATION UPLOAD in the right hand navigation box.
  4. Enter brief identifying information, and  upload the following documents:
    1. Pilot Studies Award Application
    2. Any IRB, IACUC, IBC or other regulatory applications, amendments or other documentation in the appropriate fields.
    3. When finished, press the SUBMIT button.
    4. You will receive immediate acknowledgement of the submission.
