I. GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Evaluation Research Associate, in collaboration with a team of evaluation research professionals, contributes to the development and execution of all phases of evaluation projects, including evaluation design, data collection, data analysis, and reporting. This position will be devoted to supporting the evaluation of the newly established Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), a nationally designated center aimed at transforming the processes and population health impact of medical science.
II. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for designing and conducting evaluation research required by Tufts CTSI and the national sponsor.
- Responsible for assisting Tufts CTSI programs to develop annual workplans and milestones and methods of measuring progress, consistent with the overall vision and aims of Tufts CTSI.
- Responsible for designing quantitative data collection tools to measure progress, including survey design and implementation.
- Responsible for analyzing evaluation data and developing tables, graphs and other data displays.
- Responsible for secondary data collection and analysis for tracking Tufts CTSI outcomes.
- Responsible for collaborating with Tufts CTSI bioinformatics and administration team members to develop specifications for a web-based data collection, analysis and reporting system to support evaluation.
- Responsible for providing training and technical assistance to scientists and other CTSA personnel in order to build capacity for continuous self-assessment (e.g., logic models, evaluation design, data collection and reporting, interpretation and utilization of evaluation results).
- Responsible for interfacing with the national evaluation efforts for this project and supporting compliance with requirements.
- Responsible for preparing reports and presentations for a variety of audiences by summarizing data and findings through written reports, oral presentations, and PowerPoint presentations.

III. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
A. Job Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to manage and implement complex program evaluations.
- Ability to translate Tufts CTSI scientific and academic vision and aims into operational evaluation plans.
- Strong methodological skills in research design and statistical analysis.
- Strong data collection and data management skills, with an emphasis on survey methods.
- Experience collecting and analyzing secondary data related to academic research and educational program outcomes.
- Ability to compose and present accurate and clearly written reports, documents and evaluation findings in an understandable and accessible format to a range of audiences.
- Ability to function as a key member of a bioinformatics and administration teams involved in developing a web-based evaluation and program management data system.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on several assignments simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently given basic guidelines and parameters.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative working team relationships.
- Ability to engage in pro-active problem solving and critical thinking/analysis.
- Ability to communicate well with staff and clients of all levels, including scientific and technical professionals through verbal, written and interpersonal means of communication.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, database management and analysis software required.
B. Education:
- Minimum of a Masters degree in program evaluation, public policy, public health, education or related field.
C. Experience:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in research and/or evaluation including experience in an academic research environment. Specific experience in a medical research or medical education environment is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience in project management involving direct responsibility for deliverables.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
